  1. Leased  line with the V42bis (Non-v32modems) after the  AT&L1  to

  3. set  leased line mode, you need A:>2 people to make the  connection,

  5. OR B:> a ring-down (voice) leased line.

  7.      A:> One person types ATX1D (which tells the modem to 'dial'

  9. without looking for a dial tone) in terminal mode, the person  on
  10.  
  11. the  other  end types ATA (which tells the modem to pick  up  the
  12.  
  13. line and answer).

  15.      B:> With a ring-down line, the modem (or Phone) will ring on
  16.  
  17. the other end when one end is taken off-hook. So if the  modem is
  18.  
  19. set  with  ATS0=1 (autoanswer), then the person  originating  can
  20.  
  21. type  the  ATX1D  which  will put the  modem  off  hook  (and  in
  22.  
  23. originate mode) and the other end gets a RING and will answer.
